Happiness is an intrinsic quality of gratitude.

When you are grateful, you are happy.

Be grateful. Find good reasons. Find stupid reasons. Find trivial reasons.

Soon you may be surprised with how spontaneous and joyous your experiences of gratitude become.

Next time, you’re feeling down try one of the following instead:

1.) Make a page long gratitude list {or} write a love note to someone you are extremely grateful for.

2.) Find somewhere quiet and take a seat. Close your eyes, take a few deep breathes & go on a mental journey back to the last time you felt on top of the world. How did it feel in your body?

3.) Reminiscence about {at least} 11 things that make you proud of yourself. Oh come on, you can think of 11.

YOU are 100% IN CHARGE of how others make you feel.

While I’m a coach, I don’t claim to be perfect and sure as hell know I don’t have all the answers. Sometimes I screw up and always, I have to deal with the consequences.

!storytime! The other day I found myself in a fight with a good friend. We found ourselves in a misunderstanding as expectation reared it’s ugly head. In the midst of it all some unpleasant things were said as our egos tried to prove the other more wrong. At first I was angry with her for saying such terrible things about me but then I accepted the truth - she was hurting me, my attitude was.

Growing up I always believed it was other peoples’ responsibility to be decent to me.

Maybe it was all the parables I heard in catholic school or perhaps it was the guilt and shame adults placed on us whenever we made our classmates cry…

Either way, whenever someone said or did something that made me {or anyone else} feel small or insignificant, my first thoughts were always- 
'how could THEY do that?' 
'what makes THEM think it's okay to be so nasty?'

Over the past year however, I’ve realized that it is never them; IT IS ME.

As simple as it may be, WORDS ARE JUST WORDS. YOU AND ONLY YOU create the feeling that results from then.

Have you ever noticed how one day you can brush something off and another almost the exact same situation/comment will bring you to tears?

That my dear, is the power of attitude.

*No one else can make you feel bad about yourself if you don’t let them.*

So next time someone makes you feel like shit I challenge you to step out of victimhood and choose to see the situation as a chance to strengthen your self worth.

What about the situation rang true enough to hurt you?

Do you actually believe it or was your ego just flaring up?

If you do believe what they said was true - act now.
